Currently called the Arab Republic of Egypt, the history of this Ancient civilization dates as far back as 10,000 BC. It was ruled by numerous series of dynasties and gradually flourished with religion, arts, and language. With its capital of Cairo, the country is now a popular tourist destination, mainly for its historical sites – Giza pyramid complex, Great Sphinx, Luxor, and The Valley of the Kings – as well its oases and sandy beaches along the Red Sea coast. It also presents such natural phenomena as the Nile River and Sahara Desert. As a part of the Afro-Asiatic language family, Egyptian was spoken until AD 17 and used its own hieroglyphic alphabet. Gradually it was replaced by modern Egyptian Arabic that is now spoken by 55 million people and uses the Arabic script. Parents all over the world choose Egyptian baby names for their ancient ancestry, profound etymology and royal background.
