Nope, it’s not Love Manning, though this precious baby is sure to be showered with plenty of that.
New York Giants Quarterback Eli Manning, 32, and his wife Abby have now announced the name of their freshly arrived second daughter, who was born on June 17th.
The baby was given the name Lucy Thomas Manning, and was welcomed by 2-year-old big sis Ava Frances. The name was shared with some 465,000 New York Giants fans via the team’s Twitter feed, @Giants, on July 4th. The news was favorited 240 times, and retweeted 425 times, by fans.
While it does bring to mind that supportive, if bossy, character from Charles Schulz’s Charlie Brown-slash-Peanuts franchise, and that Beatles’ 1967 tune, “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds”, the actual origins of the name are Latin, and the meaning, is light. While quite popular in England, raking among the top 25 most frequently chosen baby names there, it is slightly less so at present in the U.S., ranking 66 among most commonly chosen baby names in 2012.
Well, Ricardo’s not alone here–and everyone is certain to love Lucy. Wishing this celeb-athlete family every joy.
In other celebrity-baby-name news, no word yet on the chosen name of Busy Philipps, of Cougar Town‘s, newborn.
