Keira Knightley’s Daughter’s Name Revealed

Alas, a new secret is out, and this time the big reveal is the baby name of the newborn born to the Imitation Game star Keira Knightley, who is 30 years old…some three months-and-counting ago.

Yes, the hush-hush baby name, given by Mom Knightley and Dad James Righton, was announced in a cover story celeb profile about the actress that appeared in the fashion magazine Elle. And the baby gal’s name that was revealed is Edie.

The baby gal name Edie, which is pronounced Eee-dee, is a diminutive pet form of the more formal and longer feminine name Edith. Both Edie and Edith are British in origin and the name Edie means prosperous and victorious in war, a real war heroine. The name Edie has of course had its own brush with celebrity and, if you may recall, it’s the name of folk singer, Edie Brickell, who is married to the singer-songwriter great Paul Simon.

The magazine honored the star, who turned 30 years old and celebrated while she was preggers with her baby in the oven. The baby was born in May, but the public is still unawares of the exact date of the star’s daughter’s arrival.

The couple has not opened up, or shared much, about their new baby and the new parenting, family-life experience but Knightly did admit to being utterly transformed by the whole miraculous birthing experience. Kudos to the happy family and to one heckuva 30th birthday present.
