The couple has named their little girl, who was born in New York, where Mom and Dad live Leonore Lilian Maria.
King Carl and Queen Silvia flew to New York to meet their grandchild. News of the baby was announced by King Carl XVI Gustaf at a Cabinet Council meeting. Princess Victoria, who is first in line to the throne, was present.
Baby Leonore is fifth in line to the throne and her title will be Duchess of Gotland.
Leonore reminds us of Spain’s future queen, Leonor, who is now a mere 8 years old. Lilian is likely a tribute to the late Princess of Sweden, Princess Lilian, who died last March, at 97 years old.
Chris’s mother is named Maria, which may be where the royal baby receives her third name.
One expert reported that the name Leonore is quite rare in Sweden, and that only 128 in all of Sweden have the name.
Congratulations to the happy new parents!
