Conchita is a diminutive of Concha, a short form of Concepcion. Concepcion originates in Spanish language and means "conception". In Roman Catholic faith, it refers to the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary. Until today, it is more frequent as a place name than a feminine given name. There are numerous cities and towns of this name, especially in South America, the biggest one being Concepcion in Chile.
