Slavic Background

The history of Slavs goes as far back as the 6th century. The total population of almost 400 million people speaks various languages (called Slavic or sometimes Slavonic) based on the geographic location of different countries in Central, Eastern and Southeast Europe, as well as North and Central Asia: East Slavic peoples speaking Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian, West Slavic peoples speaking Czech, Slovak and Polish, and South Slavic peoples speaking Bulgarian, Macedonian, Bosnian, Serbian, Croatian, Montenegrin and Slovenian.
